Mary Ann Couric
General Manager; Jr./Young Rider Coordinator
Mary Ann has been riding since a child. She hails from Rhode Island, where she rode and
taught show jumping, hunt seat equitation, hunt seat over fences, pleasure horse, and
Dressage. Mary Ann started and coached for 4 years a children's show team that campaigned
in Rhode Island. She is a winner of 38 combined State and New England Championships and
14 Reserve Championships. She has also instructed students in equine training and equine
showmanship. In the Philippines, she provided formal training in Dressage and hunt seat over
fences before coming to Reddemeade in 1992. Since coming to Reddemeade, Mary Ann has
campaigned several EquiShare horses at First and Second Level. She coordinates the
Junior/Young Riders Dressage Teams.

Jessica is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Findlay, with degrees in
Equestrian Studies, Equine Business Management, and Small Business/Entrepreneurship. She
has also been a working student for Olympic eventer Phyllis Dawson. She has evented through
Training, including a Classic 3-day Event with her mare, Seattles Rugged Star, and is currently
competing Calm in the Storm and Constant Supervision at Novice & Training levels. She also is
currently competing Delta Tango, her Thoroughbred gelding, at Fourth level dressage.

Steve Young came to Reddemeade in July of 1996 at which time he was a CHA clinic instructor,
an avid Jumper, earning the high-point jumpers award in '93 the Expressway Hunter-Jumper
Circit, and was studying dressage under Walter Zettle at Houghton College. Steve graduated
from Houghton College with a degree in outdoor recreation in the spring of 1996. Since then
Steve has trained several horses through second level in dressage and helped in the training
and progress of numerous favorite jumping horses at Reddemeade.
Feed & Office Staff Coordinator; Summer Camp Director; Hunter/Jumper and Event
Michala started riding at Reddemeade summer of 2006. She took over the working student
program and feed program in 2010. She started teaching lessons and coaching the event and
dressage teams in 2012, and then took over the hunter jumper and JEL teams shortly after.
She currently competes her horse, Colby, at Training Level eventing and 2nd level dressage.
She hopes to earn her Bronze medal scores by the end of next year. Besides teaching and
training horses, Michala is currently working on obtaining her vet tech degree.
Peggy began her riding career in January of 2002 at Reddemeade. She immediately joined the
Horsemasters-in-Training program and currently has special responsibility for the care of our
retired and laid up horses. Peggy is a graduate of Reddemeade's Instructors Training Program
and began teaching lessons in the fall of 2008. During the day she works as a physical
education teacher and a physical fitness instructor.
Nancy has been riding since 1989 and teaching horseback riding at Reddemeade since 1999.
She has experience in Hunters, Dressage and Eventing. In addition to teaching and competing,
she also enjoys fox chasing with some of the local hunt clubs and riding sidesaddle. She has
even hunted and evented aside! She continues to compete her off the track thoroughbred
gelding, Manzotti Law (Vanya), Eventing him at the Training level and showing him at First
Level Dressage. She has also begun to work with a new horse, Denny.
Katie Martin (Kitty)
USDF Bronze Medalist Coach: Hunter Jumper Team
Kitty has been with Reddemeade since 2000. Having tried a bit of everything, she settled into
dressage and hunt seat equitation. She is one of the coaches of the Hunter Jumper Team.
Having competed hunters throughout high school and college, she still competes her pony,
Dixon (a former Reddemeade school horse) as a hunter as well as competing in dressage. She
is currently in college and majoring in Psychology.
Ingrid Ivins grew up with horses in Potomac, MD and spent summers as a teenager working as
a trail guide at a dude ranch in Washington State. After a break from horses (college, grad
school, kids, etc) she started riding at Reddemeade in 2005. She soon started working around
the barn as a Working Student, Feeder, Office Staff and graduated from Reddemeade’s
Instructor Training program in 2010. Ingrid and her daughter show their TB/Welsh Pony “Tiger
Lily” in Dressage and Eventing. During the week Ingrid works as a Middle East specialist for an
international organization and tries to fit riding in where she can on her overseas business trips.
Elizabeth (Liz) Espinosa
CHA Certified Instructor
Liz began riding in 1992 and took lessons in hunter/jumpers for many years before switching
over to eventing when she came to Reddemeade. Liz taught riding lessons at summer camp
through college before joining the Air Force and continue to ride while in the service. After
moving to DC for work in 2014 Liz began teaching at Reddemeade and hopes to add a horse to
her family in the next few years
Laurie Nesbitt - Working Student Coordinator
Laurie is a recent graduate from our Instructor school. Laurie has been one of our most
dedicated working students and recently took over managing the working student program.
Laurie leases Steve's horse Versace they are currently showing at First Level and hopes to
earn her scores for her USDF Bronze Medal soon.
Amelia has been riding since the age of 8. In high school, she found Columbia Riding Center
and began jumping. In 2006, she began working at Meadowbrook Stables as an assistant
instructor, and then moved up to instructor and assistant barn manager in 2008. By 2009, she
became the Director of the mini camp program there. In 2016, she decided she wanted to find a
new barn to further her education and experiences with riding, so she joined the Reddemeade
